For the past year the hubby and I have been making plans with one of his brothers, wife (aka Bestie) and our two nieces to potentially emigrate to Canada. The hubby and I will have been here for four years come June, we miss our families very much and whilst were close to our families were are very close to *C, L, K, and G* we would hang out together a lot of the time, hubby and C worked together, they would stay over at our house at weekends, and house and dog sit when we was away.
There journey began last October when the hubby was chatting to his employers about wishing they could come here, we knew we couldn't go down the family adoption route as hubby has children and they come first in the 'pecking order' so the only way was a job offer, to our surprise hubby's employer did just that, they offered C a job!!!!!! it was the best news to us and them and that was the beginning of a long journey to get to where we are today. Firstly came the LMO (Labour Market Opinion) this is made by the Canadian Human Resources to make a decision on whether the efforts that the employer has gone to, to employ a Canadian over an international worker have been good enough. What has the international employee got that a Canadian hasn't. So after waiting since November when the application was put in the employers finally got the phone call to discuss the application and make there case for wanting to employ C. That took 20 minutes and then a further two week wait for the final answer, that was two weeks ago, the answer came back as what is referred to as a 'positive LMO' this means that C can apply to London, England for a work permit for himself, my bestie and study permits for the girls.
When the result came about the LMO, hubby and I was working, needless to say I cried in front of my co-workers, hubby was working in North Van and rushed home, we called them on skype, as they are 8 hours ahead of us it was 2am, i told my bestie it wasn't good news, i could see the disappointment in her face, then I told her it was fricken great news its a yes!!!!!! at that moment C pops his head out from under the covers (yes they were in bed) with a huge smile on his face. We talked for hours, 4 to be exact well you can imagine the emotions and they wanted to wake the kids up to tell them its a yes.
So here we are two weeks later, they have applied for there police checks, the house goes up for sale next week and they have been having a massive clear out, organising what to sell, bring, whats for charity and whats for trash, me and hubby on the other hand continue with our renovations and its full on well it pauses when the cash flow isn't flowing but we will get there, it will take up to four months to get there work permits back and they can book flights...one way :) which is a weird feeling but we cannot wait to be together what we hope will be for many happy years to come!
